Banking on the Global Village
Project S.O.S. offers an innovative global savings and loan system that will economically empower the poor in vulnerable areas to create sustainable livelihoods.
Our strategy is focused on diversification of the Heifer model of livestock and agricultural lending; also our portfolio of interventions will introduce sustainable and profitable savings and loan packages for communities at risk from natural disasters. Through livelihood training in addition to disaster and rehabilitation programs and with the introduction of emergency relief methods we will adequately prepare and prevent the worsening of the global food crisis in communities that are especially vulnerable to disaster and fluctuations in the market. Finally, we will work to create an information sharing database that will increase communication between organizations, and assist in the recuperation of losses or damages in the event of natural disasters or emergency situations. This is part of our complete security package for the regions we will work in.
Our
partnership consists of four organizations which include Save the
Children, Heifer International, Action Aid, and the International
Rescue Committee.
