Meet our team:

Oxfam America
Capital for Crisis
In response to the global food crisis, our emergency response solution is to distribute cash, in local currencies, to areas where there are existing supplies of food that have soaring prices which prevent people from being able to purchase it. By providing cash instead of simply engaging in tradition forms of food distribution, we will stimulate local economies across the globe. This idea has been tested by Oxfam, and evidence shows that recipients of this money will spend it on food, rather than frivolous items. Distribution of funds will take place through the global offices of the three member organizations in the alliance. This alliance will also dispatch workers and volunteers around the globe to monitor hunger in local communities. We will aggregate this data and present it via innovative webtools so that donors around the world can visualize the need, in real time, and respond accordingly. The Capital for Crisis initiative is a collaboration between Oxfam
America, Academy for Educational Development, and MercyCorps.
Roles:
Oxfam will lead a global awareness campaign and fundraise money
AED will monitor equitable distribution and educate the public about what/why we are doing with low literacy brochures
